Allentown movies at the parkAllentown’s Department of Parks and Recreation has released the latest schedule for their “Movies in the Park” series.  Here is the upcoming schedule:

PICNIC & MOVIE & CONCERT AT WEST PARK

The city of Allentown Department of Parks and Recreation’s Movies in the Park series continues Saturday, July 23 at West Park with a Picnic & a Movie screening of “The Intern.”

This PG-13 rated movie starring Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway features 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (DeNiro) who has discovered that retirement is unfulfilling. Capitalizing on a chance to get back into the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Hathaway).

The approximately 120 minute show will begin at dusk (approximately 8:45pm).

The movie will be preceded by an installment of the Parks and Recreation Department Summer Concert Series at West Park featuring the Municipal Band performing at 6:30pm.

Paint & Party Studios will also be at the park from 7pm-8pm to help participants create an art project.  Reservations are required, and there is a $5.00 per person fee.  Interested persons should contact Paint & Party Studios at 610-351-3532 to make reservations.

In addition, the West Park Civic Association will be holding its Picnic and a Movie event during the concert and movie.  To reserve your seating, which includes tablecloths and fresh flowers, call610-434-0657.  The Association will also be collecting donations of school supplies and funds for uniforms for William Allen High School at this event.

Food Vendors “Kona Ice” and “Stuffed to the Grills” will be present in the park during the event.

The rain date is Sunday, July 24.
