DSC to Host 2016 Lehigh Valley FAST on Sept. 11 at PPL Center

The Da Vinci Science Center announced today that it has partnered with Make Lehigh Valley to present the 2016 Lehigh Valley Festival of Art, Science, and Technology (FAST) on Sunday, Sept. 11, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., at the PPL Center in Allentown, Pa.

The festival is a free carnival-style event during which dozens of exhibitors offer non-stop family-friendly experiments, interactive activities, and games. The festival’s purpose is to engage people from all socioeconomic backgrounds in inspiring and entertaining experiences with art, science, and technology and raise awareness of careers in the STEM fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Interested exhibitors and volunteers may sign up on the web at LehighValleyFAST.org.

Committed sponsors for the Lehigh Valley FAST include ATAS International, Inc.; The Gadomski Lehigh Valley Fund of the Lehigh Valley Community Foundation; B. Braun; Computing Technologies, LLC; Air Products; and Cedar Crest College.

Festivals produced by the Da Vinci Science Center have taken place every other year since 2012 and build upon a national movement begun in 2007 to hold community science festivals across the United States. The name Lehigh Valley FAST was adopted as of 2016 to represent a widening variety of experiences for festival visitors and highlights the connections between science and the arts.

The 2014 Lehigh Valley Science Festival drew more than 3,400 people to Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. The Center also produced a successful festival in 2012 with its main event taking place at the Allentown Fairgrounds.
